A staple in the live Latin music scene since 1987, Conjunto Alegre plays a hot mix of tropical music from all over the Caribbean—Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Colombia, Venezuela, Panama, and the U.S.

With Aquiles Montas as director, Conjunto Alegre's high energy and great connection with audiences has made them high priority at summer concerts in the parks for many years, as well as larger music festivals such as Mt Hood Jazz Festival, Portland Majors Ball, Rose Festival, Portland's Cinco De Mayo, Salsa en la Calle, Eugene Celebration, Salem Art Festival, Oregon County Fair, and Salem World Beat Festival.

If you're looking for the most diverse mix of salsa, merengue, bachata, cumbia, chachachá & Latin jazz, Conjunto Alegre will give you an opportunity to dance, sing along, and have a great time!

Keynote Speaker Anthony Veliz

About Anthony Veliz

LCA is excited and honored to have Anthony Veliz join us at the Gala de Oro as our keynote speaker. Anthony brings an amazing background of lived experiences to his work and to the community.

Anthony Veliz is the founder of the PODER, Oregon's Latino Leadership Network, a non profit organization (www.poderoregon.org). PODER is a collective movement of over 100 Latino-led and serving community-based organizations and private-sector businesses, plus thousands of Latinos across Oregon. PODER raised over $5,000,000 to help fight COVID-19 in the Latino community during the height of the pandemic. In the private sector - he is the owner of IZO PublicRelations & Marketing (www.izomarketing.com), a multicultural agency specializing in the Latino community. In addition to IZO, Veliz is co-owner of OYEN Emotional Wellness Center (www.oyenwellness.com), Oregon's only fully bilingual/bicultural Latino-owned mental and behavioral health company.

Anthony’s passion and his lived experiences are the backbone of his public service work (30 years of local, state and national level).

The son of migrant farm workers, his community and work experiences speak volumes to his expertise in the growing Latino community of Oregon and goes unrivaled. He is the first Latino ever elected to the Woodburn School District School Board and only the second Latino elected to serve on the city council for the City of Woodburn. Anthony also served on the State Board of Education for 8 years.
